Family Home Evening for Mosiah 11-17

 Read Mosiah 15:10-11

10 And now I say unto you, who shall declare his generation? Behold, I say unto you, that when his soul has been made an offering for sin he shall see his seed. And now what say ye? And who shall be his seed?

11 Behold I say unto you, that whosoever has heard the words of the prophets, yea, all the holy prophets who have prophesied concerning the coming of the Lord—I say unto you, that all those who have hearkened unto their words, and believed that the Lord would redeem his people, and have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, I say unto you, that these are his seed, or they are the heirs of the kingdom of God.

Lesson

Abinadi was a prophet that preached to a very wicked group of Nephites. King Noah was their ruler, and he taught the people that it was not important to listen to Heavenly Father, and they followed King Noah. Abinadi tried to tell the people to repent, and so King Noah caught him and put him in jail. While he was chained up, King Noah held a council, a kind of meeting, to decide what would happen to him. Abinadi stood in the council and taught the people about repentance and Jesus Christ. King Noah didn’t want the people to rebel against him and begin to follow Heavenly Father, and so he told his guards to kill Abinadi, but when they tried Abinadi began to glow and nobody touched him. He reminded everyone about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. As he bore testimony of Jesus Christ, he taught the powerful lesson that was written in the scripture above.

These two scriptures teach us that as Jesus Christ suffered the pains of His Atonement for us, He saw our faces. He knew who we are, and He suffered for each of us individually. Abinadi emphasized that the Atonement of Jesus Christ wasn’t just a “blanket” redemption where He just suffered one thing and it covered everyone. His Atonement covered each person, individually. As he endured your pains, sufferings, and paid the the price for your sins, He saw your face, and endured it for you. This perfect, Eternal Being suffered for you. If you were the only person in the world, He would have descended below all for only you. Why? Because He loves you!

Discuss

How does knowing that Jesus Christ saw your face, as He atoned for you, give you strength?
