D&C 84

 Read D&C 84:43-44

43 And I now give unto you a commandment to beware concerning yourselves, to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life.

44 For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God

Activity

You could prepare a meal or a treat together and label each ingredient with a word or phrase from verse 44. Why is it important that we include every ingredient? Why is it important to live by every word of God?

Here is an example we did, using this peanut butter cookie recipe

(½ Cup of Sugar)       (½ Cup Brown Sugar)           (½ Cup Butter)

(1 Cup Peanut Butter)                 (1 Egg)                   (1 tsp Vanilla)

(¾ Tsp Baking Soda)           (1½ Cups Flour)

D&C 81-83

 Read D&C 81:5

5 Wherefore, be faithful; stand in the office which I have appointed unto you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.

One of my favorite kid's shows teach us that "everyone is big enough to do something." Teach your children that it is important to observe things that other people need and listen and obey of Heavenly Father tries to tell you who needs help.

Explain that parents do a lot for their children and for others. Sometimes they get very weak and tired. Have your children brainstorm a list of things they are big enough to do. This could be simple things like wiping up a spill, clearing the table after a meal, setting the table, feeding a sibling, reading a book to a younger sibling, etc.

Help your children understand that when we help other people, we become closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus, and those we help are happier and can feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus. View the videos below to see how these people were blessed when they received service from others.

D&C 77-80

In 1832, Joseph Smith was translating the bible. He had many questions about the scriptures. D&C 77 is a recorded question and answer session where Joseph Smith asked Heavenly Father the meaning behind words in the Book of Revelation.

Being small, it is sometimes difficult for children to understand the ancient language of the scriptures. Explain to your children that if they pray to Heavenly Father, they can receive the same power to understand scriptures.

Read D&C 77:2

2 Q. What are we to understand by the four beasts, spoken of in the same verse?

A. They are figurative expressions, used by the Revelator, John, in describing heaven, the paradise of God, the happiness of man, and of beasts, and of creeping things, and of the fowls of the air; that which is spiritual being in the likeness of that which is temporal; and that which is temporal in the likeness of that which is spiritual; the spirit of man in the likeness of his person, as also the spirit of the beast, and every other creature which God has created.

Activity

Have your children draw an animal. Where does the animal live? Does it live in the jungle? In a house? In the forest? Have them draw where the animal lives.

Explain

D&C 77:2 teaches us that everything on the earth has the ability to be happy, and everything ever created has the ability for eternal happiness.

We also learn that everything has a spirit, and that the spirit looks the same as the body does. This includes people. Teach your children that their spirit looks the same as their body. Bruce R. McConkie said, ““Man and all forms of life existed as spirit beings and entities before the foundations of this earth were laid. There were spirit men and spirit beasts, spirit fowls and spirit fishes, spirit plants and spirit trees. Every creeping thing, every herb and shrub, every amoeba and tadpole, every elephant and dinosaur—all things—existed as spirits, as spirit beings, before they were placed naturally upon the earth” (The Millennial Messiah, 642–43)

D&C 76

 D&C 76

Watch the following video that summarizes D&C 76.

Discuss

How you help your family look forward to and prepare for eternal life in the celestial kingdom. You could work together to find pictures, scriptures, and prophetic teachings to go with phrases in Doctrine and Covenants 76:50–70. You might find these things in Church magazines, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, or in the footnotes of the scriptures. Then you could gather these pictures, scriptures, and teachings on a poster that could remind your family of your eternal goals.

Here are a few that we found from past General Conferences:
