Read D&C 50:23-25
23 And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness.
24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
25 And again, verily I say unto you, and I say it that you may know the truth, that you may chase darkness from among you;
Activity
You will need: A dark room, a picture of Christ and several things that emit light (lighters, birthday candles, candlesticks, glow sticks, flashlights, lanterns, bulb candles, etc.) it works best if you use things that will gradually light the room.
Set up the picture of Christ behind the things that emit light.Turn off the lights. Explain that things we do that make us feel yucky inside are like this darkness, but when we learn about Heavenly Father and gospel things, our light grows, and we feel happy. Ask your family members what they can do to make our gospel light continue to grow? With each answer, light a candle. When all of the room is illuminated with light, point out that when you carry with you the truths you learn about in the gospel, you carry a light inside of you that will attract people to you. Just as you can see the Savior in the once dark room, other people will see this light in you. They will want to have the light of Heavenly Father and Jesus. This is what gives you opportunities to share the gospel with others. It makes you happier and it makes other people happier to be around you.
