Read or Summarize Jacob 4:6, 10
6 Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.
10 Wherefore, brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand. For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works.
Activity
After reading these scriptures, find a small tree, and ask them to shake it (careful not to damage the tree). Though the tree is healthy, it is easily influenced by it’s environment, the things around it.
Now, find a larger tree. Ask your children to try and shake the large tree. Why is it harder to shake the bigger tree? What phrases in Jacob 4:6, 10–11 describe what we can do to make our faith in Jesus Christ unshaken?
Lesson
One of the things that Jacob told us to do, to have our faith in Jesus Christ become unshaken, is to search the prophets. This weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, is General Conference. During General Conference, we have the opportunity to listen to living prophets and other servants of the Lord speak. If you have spiritual questions that you need to have answered, you can pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him to reveal the answer to you, during General Conference. I promise you that He will. By listening to the words spoken at General Conference, you will have the opportunity to strengthen your personal testimony in a way that your faith will become unshaken.
