FHE Lesson for 102-105

 Read

D&C 105

38 And again I say unto you, sue for peace, not only to the people that have smitten you, but also to all people;

39 And lift up an ensign of peace, and make a proclamation of peace unto the ends of the earth;

40 And make proposals for peace unto those who have smitten you, according to the voice of the Spirit which is in you, and all things shall work together for your good.

41 Therefore, be faithful; and behold, and lo, I am with you even unto the end. Even so. Amen.

Discuss

Ask you children what this scripture means. Break it down into simple questions. The following is an example:

  1. What does it mean to sue for peace?

  2. What does it mean to be peaceful with those who have smitten you?

  3. How do you give peace to all men, even if they haven't hurt you?

  4. What proposal of peace can you give to someone who has smitten you?

  5. What are you going to do to lift up an ensign of peace to your parents and siblings?

  6. What are you going to do to lift up an ensign of peace to the world?

  7. Point out that by acting in peace, the Lord promises that all things will work together for your good, and He promises to be with you to the end.

Activity

Click on the link below for Peace Bucks. Print 1 page, for each child, of the "peace bucks" below. Have your children come tell you when they choose peace over anger or hate. For example: Child A hits Child B. Child B tells Child A, "I choose peace." Then Child B tells you that he/she chose peace, and you give them a peace buck. That way, you are rewarding positive behavior. If you want to really reinforce the good behavior, you can let the peace bucks buy an ice cream cone at the end of the week.
